How does the SEO Generator work?
Do you want your website or webshop to be found well locally? Then it is a good idea to create landing pages for your most important search terms in combination with place names in the region. This can quickly become quite a lot of pages: with 10 search terms and 10 place names, you will already have 100 landing pages. Don't worry, you can easily solve that problem with our SEO Generator. In this manual we explain step by step how the SEO Generator works.
We assume that you have already logged into the administration area of your website. You'll read how to do that in this tutorial. You will enter the Dashboard.
1. Go to the SEO Pages
Using the menu on the left, navigate to the SEO Pages.
This will take you to the SEO Generator overview page, where you will soon see one or more groups of landing pages.
Right now it's empty, so let's quickly start creating your first SEO pages.
2. Creating a group of SEO pages
Click on "Add New SEO Page. This can be done in two places (you get to choose).
That takes you to a new, blank page. This is where you will enter the text, images, search terms and place names.
3. A clever SEO text
It all starts with a smart SEO text. To avoid having to enter 100 texts for those 100 landing pages, we create one smart SEO text that we use for all those pages. That can be just any good, relevant text about your services in the region. With two important differences:
- In the place where you would write the search term, you now write [search term].
- And in the place where you would write a place name, you now write [place].
A practical example:
'Are you looking for a hair salon in Amsterdam?’
'Are you looking for a [search term] in [place]?'
"Are you looking for a hairdresser in Amstelveen?" or "Are you looking for a hair salon in Badhoevedorp?
That might look something like this:
Don't forget to use [search term] and [place] in the title of the page as well. We have used the highly creative title [search term] in [place] in this example, but of course it could be something like "The best [search term] in [place]" or "Looking for a good [search term] in [place]?".
4. Search terms and place names
Once you have entered the title and text, you are ready for the next step. Scroll down to the "SEO Page Generator" block.
Here you can optionally fill in the so-called slug of the, with this you determine what the links of the landing pages will be. You can also leave this field blank, then the SEO Generator will use the default link structure.
In the field under Search Terms, enter all the search terms you want to use. And in the field under Place names (you guessed it) all the place names for which you want to create landing pages. When filled in, it will look like this:
Consider the sentence structure
Let's recall our practical example.
Suppose this is a sentence from the text:
Of course, when we talk about SEO pages, Yoast's plug-in cannot be missed. Once again, scroll down to the 'Yoast SEO' block.
Indeed, here too you can use the codes [search term] and [city]. And we advise you to do that as well. This can look like this, for example:
Before we publish (put live) the pages, we can also adjust the design. You can find this option in the right column: Message attributes. You can choose from three templates.
- Before we publish (put live) the pages, we can also adjust the design. You can find this option in the right column: Message attributes. You can choose from three templates.
- If you choose No sidebar, the sidebar will not be displayed (you probably already suspected that), in addition, the text block will be centered on the page.
The Full Width template gives you a page with a centered text block across (almost) the entire width of the page.
You are free to choose the layout of the text page, for example, you can place additional images there. Depending on the chosen template, the page will look something like this on your website:
Is the text to your liking, do you have good lists of search terms and place names and are the SEO fields filled in as well? Then you can publish the page.
We just wrote 'page', but of course it is actually pages (plural). Because as soon as you click on 'Publish', not just one page is created, but many: for each combination of a search term and a place name a (virtual) page is created. So with 5 search terms and 5 place names, you already have 25 landing pages.
You can now easily see which pages have all been created in the SEO Page Generator block.
You can click on the links to view the pages!
8. Even more SEO Pages?
Do you offer multiple services? Then create a separate group of SEO pages for each service. We just created a group of landing pages for the search term "hair salon" and similar search terms, combined with place names. You can now repeat the same process (steps 2 to 6) for other search terms: think of a specific search terms like 'bridal haircut' or 'hair coloring' (with place names).
You can also do this to overcome problems with sentence structure, as we saw in step 4 ("hair salon" vs. "hairdresser"). You can create as many groups and SEO pages as you want!
