How do I create a new ASIN?

Are you trying to publish a product on Amazon but getting the error message below? We are happy to help you solve this problem.
SKU 136, missing attributes product_type. SKU 136 does not match any of the ASINs. Make sure all standard product ids (such as UPC, ISBN, EAN, or JAN codes) are correct. To create a new ASIN, include the following attributes: product_type. Feed ID: 0. For more troubleshooting help, see http://sellercentral.amazon.nl/gp/errorcode/200692370

What is an ASIN?

ASIN means Amazon Standard Indentification Number. It is a number with 10 characters which consists of numbers and letters. Amazon assigns the ASIN to a product based on other identifiers such as EAN codes. Want to know more about EAN codes? Read this article.

ASINs are unique within a specific marketplace. Thus, since Amazon sees each domain name - such as .nl and .com - as a different marketplace, the same products can have different ASINs.

How do I create a new ASIN?

At the moment, our Amazon WooCommerce plugin does not support the automatic creation of a new ASIN. For that, you first need to add the product manually through Amazon's Seller Account.

Creating a new ASIN

Are you getting the error below when trying to publish a product on Amazon?
SKU 136, missing attributes product_type. SKU 136 does not match any of the ASINs. Make sure all standard product ids (such as UPC, ISBN, EAN, or JAN codes) are correct. To create a new ASIN, include the following attributes: product_type. Feed ID: 0. For more troubleshooting help, see http://sellercentral.amazon.nl/gp/errorcode/200692370
In this case, you can publish the product manually through Amazon's Seller Account. To do this, go to Catalogue > Add Products and enter your EAN code (or other identifier such as UPC or ISBN).

Go through all the steps from Amazon to publish the product. Are you done? Then it will take about 15 minutes for Amazon to publish your products. Then you can publish the WooCommerce product with the same EAN or ASIN code, to link and/or update the stock and other product parameters.

Attention!

In order to link the product you just manually created in Amazon's Seller Account with the correct product in WooCommerce, the WooCommerce Product ID needs to be linked.
You need to do this while creating the product in Amazon, by entering the WooCommerce Product ID in the Amazon Seller SKU field. You cannot edit this field after creating a product. So do this while manually adding the product in Amazon.
