Wat is an ASIN?

ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Indentification Number. It is a number with 10 characters which consists of numbers and letters. Amazon assigns the ASIN to a product based on other identifiers such as EAN codes. Want to know more about EAN codes? Read this article.

ASINs are unique within a specific marketplace. Since Amazon sees every domain name - such as .nl and .com - as a different marketplace, the same products can therefore have different ASINs.

How do I create a new ASIN?

At the moment our Amazon WooCommerce plugin does not yet support automatic creation of a new ASIN. To do this, you must first add the product manually via Amazon's Seller Account.

Do you get the error below when you try to publish a product on Amazon?

SKU 136, Missing Attributes product_type. SKU 136 doesn't match any ASINs. Make sure that all standard product ids (such as UPC, ISBN, EAN, or JAN codes) are correct. In that case, you can manually publish the product via Amazon's Seller Account. To do this, go to Catalogue > Add Products and enter your EAN code (or other identifier such as UPC or ISBN).

Go through all steps from Amazon to publish the product. Are you ready? Then it takes about 15 minutes for Amazon to publish your products. You can then publish the WooCommerce product with the same EAN or ASIN code, to link and / or update the stock and other product parameters.

Notice!

In order to link the product that you have just created manually in the Seller Account of Amazon with the correct product in WooCommerce, the WooCommerce Product ID must be linked.

You need to do this when creating the product in Amazon, by entering the WooCommerce Product ID in the Amazon Seller SKU field. You cannot change this field after creating a product. So do this while manually adding the product in Amazon.
