Manual: how does the SEO Generator work?

Do you want your website or webshop to be found locally? Then it is a good idea to create landing pages for your most important search terms in combination with city names in the region. That can quickly become quite a lot of pages: with 10 search terms and 10 city names, you are already on 100 landing pages. Don't worry, you can easily solve that problem with our SEO Generator. In this manual we explain step by step how the SEO Generator works.

We assume that you are already logged in to the management environment of your website. You can read how to do this in this manual. You enter the Dashboard.

1. Go to the SEO Pages

Navigate to the SEO Pages via the menu on the left.

This will take you to the SEO Generator overview page, where you will soon see one or more groups of landing pages.

Now it is still empty, so let's quickly start creating your first SEO pages.

2. Create a group of SEO pages

Click on "Add New SEO Page". This is possible in two places (you can choose).

That will bring you to a new, blank page. Enter the texts, images, search terms and place names here.

3. A smart SEO text

It all starts with some smart SEO text. To avoid having to enter 100 texts for those 100 landing pages, we create one smart SEO text that we use for all those pages. That can just be a good, relevant text about your services in the region. With two important differences:

  1. At the place where you would write the search term, you now write [search term]
  2. And in the place where you would write a place name, write now [place]

A practical example:

Suppose this is a sentence from the text (this is an example of course):
"Are you looking for a hair salon in Amsterdam?"

Then we turn it into this in the smart SEO text:
"Are you looking for a [search term] in [city]?"

For example, our SEO Generator can replace both [search term] and [city] with other search terms and city names, for example:
"Are you looking for a hairdresser in Amstelveen?" Or "Are you looking for a hair salon in Badhoevedorp?"

It could look something like this:

Don't forget to also use [search term] and [city] in the title of the page. In this example we have used the extremely creative title [search term] in [city], but that could of course be something like 'The best [search term] in [city]' or 'Looking for a good [search term] in [city] ? '.

4. Search terms and place names

Once you have entered the title and text, you are ready for the next step. Scroll down to the "SEO Page Generator" block.

Here you can possibly enter the so-called slug of the, with this you determine what the links of the landing pages will be. You can also leave this field empty, then the SEO Generator will use the standard link structure.

In the field under Search terms you enter all the search terms that you use. And in the field under City names (you guessed it) all the city names for which you want to create landing pages. Completed it looks like this:

Consider the sentence structure

Let's go back to our practical example.

Suppose this is a sentence from the text:
"Are you looking for a [search term] in [city]?"

For this sentence, you can use either "hair salon" or "hairdresser" as the search term:
"Are you looking for a hair salon in Amsterdam?"
"Are you looking for a hairdresser in Amsterdam?"

But a sentence like this presents a problem:
"It's always fun in our [search term] in [city]"

"It's always fun in our hair salon in Amsterdam"
"It's always fun in our hairdresser in Amsterdam"

You can take this into account when writing the text, but also by choosing only suitable search terms.

5. Yoast

When we talk about SEO pages, the Yoast plug-in cannot be missed. Scroll down again to the "Yoast SEO" block.

Here too you can use the codes [search term] and [city]. And we advise you to do that too. That could look like this, for example:

6. Template

Before we start publishing (putting live) the pages, we can also adjust the design. You can find this option in the right column: Message attributes. You can choose from three templates.

  • The Default template gives you a page with a sidebar on the right. Here you can, for example, include a call-to-action.
  • If you choose No sidebar, the sidebar will not be shown (you probably already suspected that), in addition, the text block will be centered on the page.
  • The Full Width template gives you a page with a centered block of text over (almost) the entire width of the page.

You are of course free in the layout of the text page, for example you can place additional images there. Depending on the chosen template, the page will look something like this on your website:

7. Publish

Is the text to your liking, do you have good lists of search terms and city names and have the SEO fields been filled in? Then you can publish the page.

We just wrote "page", but actually they are of course pages (plural). Because as soon as you click on "Publish", not just one page is created, but a lot: a page is (virtually) created for each combination of a search term and a city name. With 5 search terms and 5 city names, you are already on 25 landing pages.

You can now easily see which pages have been created in the SEO Page Generator block.

You can click on the links to view the pages!

8. Even More SEO Pages?

Do you offer multiple services? Then create a separate group of SEO pages for each service. We just created a group of landing pages for the search term "hair salon" and similar search terms, along with city names. You can now repeat the same process (steps 2 to 6) for other search terms: think of specific search terms such as "bridal hairstyle" or "hair colors" (with place names).

You can also do this to overcome sentence structure problems, as we saw in step 4 ("hair salon" vs. "hairdresser"). You can create as many groups and SEO pages as you want!
